Music
The Wisconsin Music Archives of the
University's Mills Music Library includes such significant holdings as the Helene Stratman-Thomas papers on Wisconsin folk music, and the full catalog of commercial recordings by ethnic musicians on the Cuca label. With holdings from the 1850s to the present, the Archives contains over 35,000 items representing all Wisconsin musical traditions. Strengths of the collection include published sheet music, folk and ethnic music, scores by contemporary Wisconsin composers, recordings by state performers, and recordings issued by Wisconsin labels.
Monographs
The libraries of the Wisconsin Historical Society and the University of Wisconsin receive the main folklore journals and have extensive holdings on major folk traditions in the world. The Historical Society's Archives includes documentation of regional folklore in the papers of Charles Brown, Mary Agnes Starr, Fidelia van Antwerp, Edmund Zawacki, and others, which are augmented by the Society's Iconographic and Sound Recordings collection.
Video
Learning Support Services' Media Library in Van Hise Hall contains several films shared with the Folklore Program on various folk genres, traditions and cultures.
